Q. What can I do to properly clean and maintain my brushes?
A. To start off, try to do your best to recycle your brushes because every purchase ultimately ends up costing you more money. It’s in your best interest to reuse your old brushes unless they’re severely damaged and frayed.
It’s quite easy to clean your brushes, simply wash them as soon as possible after using them, before they begin to dry. With a mixture of water and a few drops of dish detergent, your brushes will shed the paint quickly.
The key is getting them to dry. Because of the delicate materials used in paint brushes, they do not dry quickly. My process is to allow the brushes to soak for 30 minutes, then I squeeze, rinse, and repeat this process until the brushes are clean. Using an old rag or any rag for that matter also helps if you prefer not to do it by hand! Just soak the brush and clean away!
